need a light?

jamalilanterns
Just a smattering of my favorite lanterns for sale at Jamali Home and Garden. They have the absolute best selection (and great prices) for everything from the most random decor stuff (a bag of oak leaves?) to lighting and garden pots.

by candle light

greenbaboon
These waldorf star lanterns would be adorable in different sizes running down the center of a long table or as part of an assymetrical centerpiece. Maybe best with LED lights rather than candles? The floating acorn cap candles were just too cute to pass up. Both items from Green Baboon.

a do-it-yourselfer's wonderland

saveoncrafts
My sister (the super-crafter) told me about this amazing website, Save on Crafts, and the DIY'er in me just peed myself a little from joy! They have anything you could possibly want for DIY decor projects. Bulk feathers? Yes. Branches? Sure. Solar powered lanterns? Yup. Moss? In large quantites. Beautiful vases for cheap? Ok. Cake Stands? That, and so much more. If you are trying to do your own wedding decor, or are looking to score some craft supplies I would highly recommend checking this place out.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Aren't these cool? I thought they would be great if you were transforming an empty space for your ceremony or reception. Situate one or two over the dance floor or the alter and you're all set! It may be a bit of an investment if you want more than one, but they would be beautiful over your dining room table too! Forever a great reminder of your wedding day. Love those. From Feel More Human.

weekend revelry

oillanterns
I'm off to Brooklyn this weekend, back to the ol' stomping grounds! Two of my very good friends are having their 30th (whoa) birthdays this weekend, and I wouldn't miss those shindigs for the world. I'm also going wedding dress shopping (not for myself) and am going to attempt to revisit all my old favorite stores. Mama needs some new tops! I'm also going to try and go to a few of my old favorite restaurants, I'm thinking Steinhof... If you can't tell, I'm thoroughly looking forward to all my weekend prospects!
In the mean time I will leave you with these adorable outdoor lanterns, available at Home Infatuation. Love them.

paper lace

paperlace
So I've decided to round out the unofficial Etsy week... make it official. I thought these rolls of filigreed paper would be amazing for wrapping around your bouquet stem, wrapping around some votives, creating a quick decorative touch to your centerpieces, personalizing your favors, or dressing up your place settings (the list could go on and on). I love that these little details are out there, and for such reasonable prices! From Brookerpie on Etsy.

a morroccan glow

These pieces from Z Gallery would be adorable on a buffet table, as centerpieces, or as decorations at the ceremony. Grouping all the different sizes together creates a nice effect. Candle holders and Lanterns, love them!

lacy lanterns

Carthagelantern
Burke Decor has these amazing little lanterns for sale that I think would be a perfect compliment to an outdoor buffet table, dramatic housing for a unity candle at your ceremony, or just a nice addition to your home. They come in three sizes, (small, medium, and large) starting at $30 for the smallest. As an added bonus, if you do decide to purchase these or any other item from Burke, you can get a free bath bomb as a thank you. Just enter the code BLAST at the check out. Thanks for the heads up Elise!

eyelet lanterns

Eyeletlanterns
OK. I'm back. Whoever, (Mom?) made the comment about morning sickness, HA! Not so much. I'm fine, just a touch of the flu maybe? Anyway, got a great tip today from Luna Bazaar about their awesome lantern collection. I love, love, love their selection of shaped eyelet lanterns, and think they all would look amazing hung low over guest tables, lit from within in groupings of three or so? At these prices, you can afford to get a bunch. The light coming through the little holes in the eyelet will be fantastic!

glowing praise

urban outfitters lanterns
These little lanterns from Urban Outfitters have been all over the place lately, but at only $12 each they're definitely worth mentioning. Picture a few hanging above each table, or as part of a buffet table display. Love the white lanterns against a darker table cloth.

lanterns as centerpieces

z gallerie lanterns
Z Gallerie has some wonderful lanterns and sconces for centerpieces or candlelight ceremonies. When I saw what a bargain they were, I figured they'd be 6" tall or so, tea light sized. I was shocked when I saw the measurements. Anywhere from 16" to 27", and many of the lantern's are under $50 each. There are loads of styles and configurations... modern, country, minimal, you name it. If you chose to use some of these on your tables, you might be able to save a little on flowers.

patterned paper lanterns

patterned paper lanterns
For only 9 bucks each, these 14" patterned paper lanterns are such a steal! I might consider hanging 3 or 4 in my kitchen. But I'd consider hanging A LOT more inside say... a wedding tent? Over a buffet table? Over a cake table? Over the head table? Over all the tables? I'm not sure if I would choose just one pattern and go crazy with it or if I would choose a couple patterns and mix and match. Maybe some solid colored and some patterned? I guess it would depend on the rest of your decor. Either way, there's a lot of bang for your buck here.

cherry blossom lights: found!

cherry blossom lights
'Member... a while back I posted about those great cherry blossom lights from Graham & Greene? The ones up there, on the right? Only, the shipping was too much for us Yanks, and we couldn't find them anywhere local or else they were all sold out, and we were really sad? 'Member? Well I haven't found the exact same ones here in the U.S.of A. but I think I may have found a perfect alternative, up there on the left. The flowers are coral colored instead of white but the lights are white and the effect is the same when they're lit, I'm sure of it. I think they may even be a little cheaper. Still perfect for alters, ceremony spaces, buffet tables, centerpieces, etc... Anywhere you might like to use 35 candles, but can't or don't want to risk an inferno.
They can be found at a lovely online establishment called World Market. Scoop them up before they're all sold out too!

lanterns and a birdwalk

gglanterns
I couldn't not post about these. They're too pretty. And not that expensive. (Unless you count the overseas shipping) *bites lip*.
BUT you could get a lot of bang for your buck (I mean pound) with these. Great on a buffet table, GREAT as centerpieces. Available here.
I'm going to be on the look out for anything similar a little closer to home. You'll be the first to know.

On a completely unrelated note... Did everyone but me know that John Denver wrote "Leaving on a Jet Plane"? I thought what's her name wrote that... Pachouli Clark? Petula Kline? No? OK. You all know that he died in a plane crash right? Is no one else FREAKed out by this? Why did no one tell me the horrible irony of this song? I love this song. Now it's just incredibly sad. I am not happy about this.

fairy lights

cosyromantics
I know that a lot of you are searching for alternatives to candles, as so many venues are not allowing them anymore. I thought I'd do a quick post about this company I spotted on Stylehive. Cosy Romantics offer a ton of fairy light options, in really classy colors and shapes. I love the wrapped twine ones, as well as the "Iris" style. I really want to try a strand of the flower ones under a glass dome as part of a center piece. I'll let you know when I road test that.

cherry blossom lights

cherrybranch
For about $26 each, these light-up cherry blossom branches pack a heck of a punch. I know that a lot of you are struggling with vendors and spaces who won't allow you to use candles... I think these could approximate the subtle glow of candlelight quite nicely, while still contributing to the decor in daylight. Spend $100, and you could have lovely addition to a chuppah, altar, head table, church entrance... the possibilities are endless.
From Graham and Greene.

easy, easy ambiance

follow the lights...
This makes a fantasic alternative to this, and the former costs twenty-three dollars a piece. TWENTY-THREE. Now I can't say for sure how much the latter costs. But I can say that it is for sure more than twenty-three dollars. Plus a fingertip or two. All I'm saying is that it's a dern good alternative. Consider the possibilities! At an evening wedding outside, hung in the trees. Hung low over the tables at a loft type event, or hung at different lengths, clustered together over the buffet table. I'd say there's lots of potential here. These can be found at Smith & Hawken, in white or red.

*AVOID DISCO FEVER: try not to hang just one over the dance floor.

not your mama's lanterns

At only 12 bucks a piece, these cuties are a steal! Cluster them in an outdoor space to create a warm, intimate area for your guests to congregate around. Love the colors.

just a little favor

I have to apologize for my lack of posting yesterday. I was hosting a LOST premiere party, and I was knee deep in moussaka all day. Speaking of LOST, WHAT was up with the whole zoo vibe last night?! I couldn't have seen that coming a mile away. That show never ceases to impress me with it's twists. But, I digress.
I finally had a spare moment this morning and was poking around on Stylehive when I found this UK mail order site, Cox & Cox. It seems like a fun place to find unique favors and decorating items. I love the sparkler idea, though I might just have guests hold them, rather than sticking them in the dessert. I wouldn't want to risk getting ashes on my petite fours! Even though this is a UK based company, they will indeed ship to the US, I checked.
On a completely different note, does any one know of an all inclusive style resort in Florida or Arizona or someplace warm that they'd recommend? My family is looking for a place to have a 4 day end of winter get together, and we don't know where to go. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

found it!
