These made me smile this morning. They'd be adorable as simple centerpieces at an outdoor wedding. All from Urban Outfitters. All very nicely priced. Via Oh, Happy Day!

fascinating

fascinators
I adore the creative shapes in these fascinators by YJ. The yellow one is my favorite, especially with a vintage inspired dress and a nice red lip! Love!

They're magnets! What a cute idea for favors for a garden wedding! From The Poetic Life.

a do-it-yourselfer's wonderland

saveoncrafts
My sister (the super-crafter) told me about this amazing website, Save on Crafts, and the DIY'er in me just peed myself a little from joy! They have anything you could possibly want for DIY decor projects. Bulk feathers? Yes. Branches? Sure. Solar powered lanterns? Yup. Moss? In large quantites. Beautiful vases for cheap? Ok. Cake Stands? That, and so much more. If you are trying to do your own wedding decor, or are looking to score some craft supplies I would highly recommend checking this place out.
Have a great weekend everyone!

day one

icing101
It's just any other Monday for everyone else, but for me, it's like the first day of work at a new job. While the actual work I'm doing is the same, I have this little, squirmy bundled person to take with me (luckily, I work from home). What if he cries when the phone rings? What if I can't get my work finished? What if his diaper explodes while I'm on the phone with Martha Stewart? (ha. I wish I was on the phone with Martha Stewart) I am loaded with questions at this point, none of which I will know the answers to until I've jumped in and just DONE it. I am 10 days into mommyhood but in almost every way it still feels like the first day. I'm learning this new job on the fly, no training wheels!
Let's get the party started, shall we? I started my morning, as usual, with a little visit to Etsy. The lovely stylings of Icing 101 caught my eye, especially that gorgeous sash. What amazing way to accentuate a tiny waist! Sigh.... a tiny waist.

Kaitlin from b. poetic emailed me a link yesterday to her adorable website. Her giant handmade blooms would make a perfect addition to a simple gown and her photos are stunning!

i'll take 17 rolls.

MaskingTape
What is this, you ask? Ribbon? A candle? What? Nothing less than masking tape, my dears! Japanese masking tape to be exact. I can think of about 9 million creative and handy ways to use this pretty tape; from gift wrapping, to invitation making, to favor packaging, to book binding, to flower arranging... I could keep going, seriously - on and on. Available at Ginko Papers, via Black Eiffel, my newest blog crush.

fritts rosenow

frittsrosenow
Flowers not really your guy's thing? Fritts Rosenow has your back! I love these quirky bouts made from vintage toys, game pieces, guitar picks and a myriad of other odds and ends. Each one is made to order, and can be made to suit your man exactly!

Crafty? As you may know, I have been known to be crafty from time to time, and these are just the ticket! You can find the kit with everything you need to make this beautiful fabric bouquet here, and instructions can be found here. Happy Monday! Via the Purl Bee.

see you next week!

Happy Friday! I'm off for an extended weekend getaway with the hubs. We are taking a much needed break to recharge our batteries and gather our thoughts. I will be back to regular posting next Friday (possibly with big news... we may find out if we're having a boy or a girl at our next ultrasound! Yikes! That's big!). I have absolutely no idea what I might be having. I know lots of women have strong opinions one way or the other... me? not so much. I know that I'm better at picking names for girls... so maybe a girl? If it's a boy, I'm going to need input. I draw a blank whenever I try and come up with boy names.
In the mean time, please check out these fantastic boutonnieres from Design Whimsy. Boutonnieres were probably the last things on my list when I was planning my wedding, and subsequently, they got overlooked. The guys ended up with bouts, but they were a little... half-assed. These would have been exactly what I was looking for back then, and I thought some of you might be in need of just such a service. Don't miss the really beautiful passementerie style bouquets while you're over there. They could save you quite a bundle on flowers if you were so inclined!
Have a great week everyone! And if you happen to have good boy name ideas...

a feast for the eyes

stark
I'm back from a decadent 2 weeks of family celebrations. I'm an overstuffed, yet well rested version of myself, so I thought I'd start the year out with a little feasting that doesn't involve huge amount of calories.
The images above all from David Stark, master of event design. I love how he adds light to ordinary materials like paper and paint cans (!) to create something truly magical. I adore the bouquet at the top, and wonder, in a twisted-glutton-for-punishment kind of way, how long it might take me to make one for myself? Hmmmm.

box full of fun

kits
I found out about these kits from Oh Happy Day, and I think they would make a great little project kit for a ring pillow or boutonnieres. As a very crafty lady, there's something about a box full of antique notions and whatnot that just makes me smile. From Lobster and Swan.

no wilt wonders

corsage
I'm anticipating staying up pretty late tonight, waiting for the final, final results. I want to go to bed knowing who our next president will be. We have all heard so much about this election, I just want to know how it ends! That being said, I have plenty of time for surfing tonight while I watch the results! I came across these amazing corsages from Emily K. Botanic Studio right after they announced Iowa. Love the idea of giving your special ladies (grandmas, aunties, your mom, etc.) a corsage they can wear after your wedding, either pinned to a purse or dressing up a shawl or a coat. Check out Emily K's Etsy shop for a beautiful selection.

which goose

Love these dramatic hair accessories from Which Goose on Etsy. They have such a unique 1920's flair, while still seeming very modern and unique. The yellow flowers are my favorite!
On a completely different note- I'm headed back home to Rhode Island tomorrow morning and while I'm sad to be leaving my sister behind and I had a fantastic trip, I'm anxious to get back home. My poor little puppy Shorty ate a piece or two of sugar-less gum this afternoon, and after much Googling, my husband found out that this is actually really poisonous for dogs. While I'm sure Dell has everything under control, I'm worried about the little guy and so far from home I feel like there's nothing I can do. Anyone with a dog, please be careful with any gum that contains Xylitol (Orbitz, among others). It can be very harmful to dogs.

no wilt flowers

claygardenia
Can you believe these are made of clay? DK Floral Designs offers the most amazing clay florals I've ever seen. Not only would they be perfect for your wedding day, but they'll stay perfect every day after that!

boots

Love Etsy! I found these while searching for vintage-y wedding stuff for inspiration for the new Kenzie Kate stuff (having so much fun designing new stuff this year!). Amanda from Design Whimsy is making one-off boutonnieres, using recycled and reclaimed vintage bits and pieces to create these beautiful boots. I love the idea of all your special guys getting their own unique creation. Shop here for more options!

attention to the details...

Boutonnieres weren't something I even had time to consider when I was planning my wedding. I would have jumped at the chance to have someone else create these perfect little concoctions for me. Love them all, especially the yellow one. All from Sweet B Papers on Etsy.

martha, martha, martha!

walmartha
I don't shop at Walmart. I really don't. I started to notice that I would go in there looking for one thing, find it, then wander around for an hour in a daze looking for who knows what. It's like I'm unable to escape. So I don't go in there anymore. I don't have the time. This does not stop me from eyeing Martha's Walmart collection called "Martha Stewart Celebrate", which I'm just going to call "Walmartha" for ease of use. Love Walmarta's peony bouquet kit, favor boxes, and adorable cake toppers. All of the above can be purchased online, without ever stepping foot into the time trap.
